Apart from the first Sunday of every month which is a non-Eucharistic service with families in mind, services of Holy Communion are held weekly at St Andrews, and on the first and second Sundays at St Matthews, all starting at10.30am. These are contemporary language services with a mix of traditional and modern hymns, Bible Readings and a sermon.
Holy Communion is celebrated in response to Jesus’ command to his disciples at the Last Supper when he broke bread and shared wine with them to symbolise what was going to happen to him on the cross. It is an important part of Christian worship and all those who normally receive Holy Communion in their own churches of any denomination or who are confirmed are welcome to join in the bread and wine with us. Anyone who is not sure about receiving the bread and wine is invited to come forward for a blessing.
St. Andrew’s Church has two areas to receive Holy Communion, the principal altar in the chancel, and a smaller altar in the south chapel, which has a level access. Bread and Wine are offered at both altars.
